Rare italian-American sportscar with v8 powertrain
Beautifully restored
This specific Intermeccanica Italia Spyder, chassis number 50045, was delivered new to Torino Cars in New Jersey on June 7, 1969. The chassis number follows Intermeccanica’s system, where the 5 signifies a convertible model, and 45 indicates it was the 45th Italia ever built.
In 1988, the car was sold at the Miami Beach Kruse auction for $20,000. Shortly after, its new owner commissioned a complete restoration in 1989, investing over $70,000 (all invoices on file). Following the restoration, the Italia was regularly enjoyed before being sold in 2008 to Richard S. from Oklahoma.
After two decades of ownership, the car required another restoration. Richard S. undertook this project, spending more than $86,000 to bring the vehicle back to top condition.
In 2015, the car was sold through Daniel Schmitt & Co. in St. Louis and acquired by its current European caretaker. Since its arrival in Europe, the Italia has been sparingly used for classic car outings, remaining a cherished part
of an esteemed collection. It has been regularly maintained and driven.
This Italia Spyder is powered by a V8 engine paired with a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The car’s soft top is in excellent condition, fully functional, and free of leaks. Its paintwork remains exceptional, with a deep, lustrous finish. The Borrani-style wheels are pristine, enhancing the car’s classic aesthetic.
Recently, the vehicle underwent a comprehensive service, ensuring flawless performance. All fluids have been replaced, and critical components—including the brakes, spark plugs, fuel pump, and water pump—have been newly installed for optimal reliability.
Inside, the Italia boasts a well-preserved interior, highlighted by a beautifully crafted wooden-style steering wheel and a matching center console, enhancing the cabin’s timeless elegance.
